Well I can only say that the touring company was amazing the Glinda was perfect really spot on.. and Elphaba was very very good.
My friend Kenny Hodges was playing the percussion book and did an amazing job as well, got to go back stage after the show to see his set up and check out all the wonderful noise makers he used the triang thing is just amazing to see and hear.
If I had one issue and mind you its trivial its that I was Way to high up LOL.. and the Voices came through loud and clear but the music itself was very low and I had to strain to hear it sometimes.
The production is wonderful and really if you have a chance to see it you should.

WICKED tonight at Capital Theater!
I would say that I am so excited for the show tonight... I wish Only that I had had more money at the time the tickets became available but it was at the end of a paycheck so I am sitting way up high and not in my normal place :)
However with that being said I recall this show from NYC when I was lucky to see it on broadway with its original cast on a Work related trip.
I wish only someday to play this book as a percussionist but alas... I have not been in those circles since moving back to Utah... but If I set my mind to it perhaps it will come to pass ;)
Here for you to enjoy is Popular with the orignal Bway Cast:

MAY M AY MAY!!!!
Ok first for a month now the movies which have been offered via Hollywood have just sucked.. APRIL nothing came out worth seeing that I am aware of...
Now with MAY Fast Approaching I suggest you get excited for a month of Block Buster movies which hopefully live up to the hype!
First
MAY 1 Xmen Origins: Wolverine or as I like to call it the First EVER MOVIE WITH GAMBIT!
I have midnight show tickets for Thursday night and even though Diana is seeing in the same theater as Hugh Jackman I can safely say I am just as excited. Although a wee bit Envious of her :)
May 1: Battle for Terra (CGI) movie about saving mankind I believe, not really checked it out but looks ok for kids
May 1: Ghosts of Girlfriends Past: not sure what to say but is a romantic comedy based on the Dickens ghosts of christmas past I believe. I like Jennifer Gardner and can stomach Matthew McConaughey so could be good for a laugh if you can't get into XMEN!
May 8: Star Trek (by JJAbrams)
This looks intensely sweet! I have tickets for the 7th at 10 PM and am very excited as I always liked the Star Trek Franchise except Star Trek V and well really Star Trek the movie.. which had many of us baffled that the cast was so cold.
May 18: Angels and Demons: Sequel to the Movie The Da'Vinci Code
Tom Hanks back as the lead and another Catholic cover up to solve...
May 21: Terminator: Salvation
Now I am not a super Terminator fan but again this has all the components of a good one. First Christian Bale as John Connor and a great deal of action is promised.
May 21: Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian
Sequel to the Night at the Museum with Ben Stiller again.. I am getting a bit bored of his stuff but again if you cant get in to see Terminator it could be a good popcorn show
May 29: Up
Pixar's latest offering, hopefully some updates to the CGI they have in the past continued to improve on, this is definately the movie this month for the kids.
Well there you have it my Movie picks for MAY!

Karate Test tonight... going for Brownbelt
Well I have set the day for my test and it starts tonight...
I have my friend Tyler coming with me to act as fodder, he and I had progressed to Green Belt under the last reincarnation of Kishindo.
I am testing for my Brown... and then I will only be 2 tests from Black.
I have so much to learn and need to push hard to learn it.
Other news? nothing except I got my tax money in and paid off a big bill I had and put some away for savings.. all in all a good week so far :)
Oops making a correction I am testing for Brown 1 stripe, one more test to brown, then black... hopefully I will not take as long to the next belt..

Pasts and memories
Last night the University of Percussion Ensemble had a 30 year anniversary concert, celebrating Doug Wolf's 30 years there teaching.
Many of the Evening proceedings focused on the ensemble throughout his career which I was a student in one form or another of his for almost a decade of them.
The music was excellent, and the post event party was fun... got to hook up with some old friends.. and yes I am a terrible friend as I don't really keep up with them..
A few in attendance were:
Mary Murdock
Margo Watts (don't know married name)
Ardean Watts
Pat Campbell
Dan Chamberland and his wife Gloria
Larry Edvalson
Kelly Wallis (with no long hair)
Kenny Hodges
George Brown
Jay Lawrence
Brian Booth (who knows me as Poot from my year there in 79)
Dan Lewis
Darren Dabell (nasty)
Garna Chew (aka Alex Brothers)
JD
Jill Elliot and Hubby and kids
Bonnie Gwilliam and her kids
Miranda
Glen Rose
Heath Wolf
Chase Culp
Kent Seegmiller (siggy)
and more who I apologize if I don't remember their names.
One of the highlights were a few videos they played between muscial numbers of television news clips regarding the ensemble and its various events yes the one from 87 was most embarassing!
one Video was from Performances at the various venues:
St. Louis, Ending of West Side Story
Chicago Diabolic Variations
LA Diabolic Variations
Crystal Cathedral Stained Glass
A couple of the peices they played last night caught my ear and my interest:
Stubernic
Which you can see here:
well its not the same as the player last night but gives you an idea of how fun this piece is.
